Three fun party particulars (in no particular order of importance):
- Tommy James & the Shondells' version of "Hanky Panky" became a trash-tastic party classic on this day in 1966.
- The original incarnation of the Shondells, who recorded the tune in 1964 with Tommy James, didn't even get to ride the tide of pop-star fame (they declined).
- When they went to lay this party platter down, James couldn't recall all the original Raindrops' lyrics, so like any swift singer worth his salt, he made 'em up on the spot.
sure just do the twist to everything...if only the real hanky panky could be shown!
